Vehicle city Vampires, Book 1
Synopsis: Anwyn Rose is descended from a long line of powerful witches yet she can barely cast spells young witchlings have mastered. She has one functioning witch gift, the power of knowing, which she puts to good use as a Detective on Flint’s Preternatural Investigation Team (aka the P.I.T. Crew)
It’s a new era in Vehicle City, supernaturals are running the town.
The P.I.T has their hands full with paranormal crimes. Top priority is a serial killer, who appears to be a vampire, draining young women in the city.
Anwyn is on the case with her sexy partner Detective Mike Malone.
Complicating things is her relationship Galen, a vampire who looks more guilty than innocent, although Anwyn trusts her instincts even if her power is on the fritz.
Mysterious spells, compromising situations, and a possible demon on the loose make it hard to focus on the case, but Anwyn has to make things right before the human police execute the wrong vampire.
Review: I was very
intrigued by this novel when I read the summary and I was therefore curious to
discover this new book by Roxanne Rhoads. I
must say that I was quite surprised by the story itself, I was expecting a fairly
typical urban fantasy novel, but it is quite different from that. The
romance side has an essential place in the story, it is indeed what leads the
plot and the investigation of our heroine.
Anwyn
is a witch, member of a police that deals with paranormal cases. But
recently a vampire drains and kills many young women, leaving little trails
behind him. But
our heroine is determined to understand what is happening, especially when it
seems that everything is linked to Galen, the vampire she likes as she is
convinced of his innocence. But
even if she knows that, she still doesn’t know who is behind all the murders. In
addition to that, she has to face two men who would love to have her in
their bed. She was alone for a long time, it is now a really big change. But
how could she choose between Malone, her boss and the Galen the vampire, when
they are so different? So? It is quite complicated. Well
I understand it is quite difficult for her to choose between the two of them
but I think I have a soft spot for our little vampire. He
is "damaged", fragile, and it is true that we want to help and hug
him, while Malone is more confident and determined in his actions. Each
has his own qualities and defects, but a common goal, the lovely Wyn.
I
admit that this first novel made me very curious about the rest of the story. Roxanne
Rhoads introduced us several ideas, many characters and I really want to learn
more about them. We
learn a little about each of the protagonists, enough for us to ask many
questions about each of them. The
plot is not very complicated and when I wondered about some aspects of the
story, about the things that Rose could learn, I confess I had not really thought about this
reason and this culprit for the murders. Many
things are started here and I am intrigued by the following events,
particularly about the relations of our
heroine.
Glad that you enjoyed. The heroine sounds great.
